TraumaSol Training

In August, we’ll be offering TraumaSol Training. TraumaSol is short for Trauma Solution, and is a method for working through a client’s traumatic experiences. The sessions will run August 14-16, 9 am-5 pm, with a lunch break from noon-1pm. These sessions will be virtual.

New Courses – Fall 2025

This fall, we’ll be offering the following courses:

Lifejacket Lakota/Dakota – for beginners with little language experience. This is an intensive course that lasts 4 weeks, and meets for 1 hour per day. We anticipate offering this in early fall, and again in the spring.

Lakota/Dakota 1 – this is a continued language learning course, beginning after Lifejacket, which runs 3 days a week, and will generally run in 6-8 week units through the year.

Project Based Teaching Methods – this course is open to speakers or learners of any language, with a focus on Re-Indigenized project based immersion teaching styles. If you are not a Lakota or Dakota speaker or learner, that’s ok – join this class, taught in English, with methods that apply to all languages. This typically runs 2 nights a week through the year. Certificate available upon completion.

Summer Intensive: Teaching Methods

This summer, we’ll be offering a special version of our teaching methods program, just for teachers. We do have a minimum enrollment needed to make these courses happen, so please register by June 5th.

Each course is offered intensively for 2 weeks, teachers can select which courses they want to take. Each course totals 24 contact hours per course; for anyone enrolled for credit, additional work is given on Fridays to ensure compliance with credit hours.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to secure grant funding to provide scholarships for this summer session. Individual courses will be $300, or take all 4 courses for a discounted total of $1000.

Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. central time.

July 7th – Lesson Plan Development for Language Vitality

July 21 – Classroom Management for Language Vitality

August 4th – Learning Materials Design for Language Vitality

Language Summer Camps

Summer camps are just around the corner, and they’re helpful for families whose children are in school during the school year. And what better way to practice language than as a group in a camp?

With that in mind, we’ve put together a resource for folks who are thinking about creating a camp experience that’s centered around language. We have staff members who’ve run camps like this before, and we’re always open to proposals to consult on camps, but this resource will help you think through what you need to make a camp work.
